Having started on a broken laptop in his dad’s laptop Theo Bennett has really slugged it from playing any bill he could and at any time on the set (sometimes at 6am) to travelling the world with the tunes he has written. Skyn8 talked with Theo about the genesis of Sepia, influences to his sound and how he has stayed afloat as a DJ during a time of closed venues.

Skyn8 talked with Theo about the genesis of Sepia, influences to his sound and how he has stayed afloat as a DJ during a time of closed venues.

Skyn8 interviewed musicians, DJs, record producers and independent business owners to get their thoughts on the ever changing landscape of the world of music. As “fan first” approaches are becoming more popular, with TikTok acting as a career launchpad and data becoming more prevalent to musicians & artists, another plate is being added to the multiple spinning plates that independent artists are already spinning.

nk Maddocks’ art work is a flowing river of photography, textures and illustrations running through the alternative scene of the early 2000s and is still moving with a strong current to this day. From the incredible White Pony by Deftones, the phenomenal debut album Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park to R&B artist Gary Clark Jr, Maddocks’ mixed media fingerprints are arguably as iconic as the songs themselves.

Regal Cheer has just finished recording their debut album that is probably going to set your ears on fire and melt the skin off your face. The two-piece formed from a shared love of the supergroup Dogs on Acid and TV show I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson are a short & snappy indie-punk band from Brighton, UK.
In February, Max Edermaniger released his debut self-titled EP under the name Classic Virgo. Classic Virgo appears like a 180 musically to his past project Max William with synths replacing guitars but he himself would say it’s a truer creative form to his personality. The self-titled record contains four tracks written on late night dog walks, nap times and mundane work days all composed on his smartphone. Max talked about evolving his sound and shared his advice and thoughts on writing electronic music.
Weekend Punks, named after a drunk conversation at a concert, released their debut EP last year. The three song record is reminiscent of 2010s indie dream pop and is a 9 minute escape to an endless summer montage whenever you listen to it.

Seity was created by Luke Ellis who spent his 20s touring with the band Muncie Girls until the global pandemic left the music scene dormant sending him searching for a new source of creativity. Luke took his passion for good-looking, ethically sound socks, what he learned from years of being in a band and transformed them both into a business plan.
